Originally from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Quin Rutherford has always had a strong connection to Africa’s wild places. His passion for the outdoors led him to study Nature Conservation, Adventure, and Nature Training, building the foundation for a career in guiding and safari travel.

Quin began his guiding journey in the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger, where he spent four years developing his skills in tracking, wildlife interpretation, and guest experience. He then spent two years guiding in the Kalahari, gaining a deeper appreciation for remote landscapes, desert-adapted wildlife, and the slower rhythms of the wilderness.

After freelancing with an overlanding operator for two years, Quin discovered a true passion for self-drive expeditions across Southern Africa. This experience inspired Peak Overland: small-group, professionally guided overland journeys that offer adventure, connection, and confidence in some of Africa’s most beautiful remote places.
